Snickerdoodles

I am in a baking mood today ( It is a certain time of the month and I eat all the time ) so I am making cookies. My husband will be thrilled, he is trying to lose weight.!

1 & 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 & 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cream of tartat
2 tsp. cinnamon


Cream sugar, shortening and butter. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well. Combine flour, soda, salt and cream of tartar. Stir into creamed mixture. Chill overnight. Shape into balls. Mix cinnamon and 2 tbsp. sugar. Roll cookies in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 7 -8 minutes.

A softer cookie can be made using 1 cup of butter or margarine instead and no shortening.

These make the house smell so good!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to eat some!!!!
