Philippians 1:6-11

I am so tired, so this may not make much sense but I feel I need to get it done tonight in case I oversleep in the morning!

Phil. 1:6-11 (read it here) You can read all of these scriptures listed at Bible Gateway! Click here!

vs. 6: God is going to finish the work He started in us! God will help us grow in grace until He has completed His work in our lives! God won't give up on us (I needed this Word today SO bad!) We shouldn't feel depressed or destressed because of our present circumstances. We shouldn't let them rob our joy of knowing Christ. We should use it to make ourselves even closer to Him!

vs. 7: My Bible says that Paul is most likely referring to his imprisonment in Phillipi, (Acts 16: 22-36) And in vs. 13 & 14, his Roman imprisonment.

Wherever Paul was he preached the Gospel! In chains, in prison! And I let my "busy life" and "sad" circumstances keep me from spreading the Gospel!

vs. 8: Paul longed to see the Christians at Phillipi! He had unity with them. He loved them because they were his fellow believers. Do we feel a deep love for our fellow believers? How do we express our love for other believers? What actions do we take? Do we have pure motives?

vs.9: Paul's prayer here is that the Philippians be united in love. This love should lead to deepening knowledge of Christ and a deeper insight or discernment. (Thanks, Daddy!) Their love was not based on gushy, sentimental feelings but it was ALL about CHRIST and what he had done for them! They didn't love only when they felt like it and they were getting along and everything was just peachy and they were always all best friends. Yeah right.

As we grow in Christ's love, our hearts and our minds must grow together. Is our love and our insight (moral discernment) growing together?

vs. 10: Paul's praying here that the Philippians have an understanding of what is right and what is wrong. We should pray for this understanding (moral discernment) so we can keep our values and morals as followers of Christ (Hebrews 5:14)

Christ returns - When Christ comes back and God judges the world!

vs.11- Galations 5:22-23 "Fruit of your Salvation"

What good things come form a right relationship with God- the character traits that become a part of you. We can not get this way any other way than through Christ. Nothing else can gives us these "fruits"!

This is all that I am going to post tonight, I am just so tired and I am getting really sick with this cold and so is my husband. Please pray for me that I may get some rest tonight as well as the others of my household!

I appreciate all who are doing this study with me, even if you are not commenting! :)

Much Love to all of you,

Julie

*Edited: I forgot to tell you last night that I am reading vs. 12-15 today! Not very many but I am tired and I don't like to rush through a book! So, I will probably comment on these verses tomorrow morning, because I am going to have to get in the bed earlier, this midnight stuff is for the birds! lol.

Isn't it amazing how much great stuff can be packed into just a few verses! I especially love vs 9 and 10 about continuing to grow in knowledge and understanding so we realize what REALLY matters in life, and so we can live pure and blameless lives. I have a lot of work to do on my character and a lot of work to allow God to do! And it all starts in the Word and through the power of the Holy Spirit!
