Words of wisdom...

I've posted these before but I have been thinking on this so much lately and they are definitely words of wisdom that can be shared again and again....

"Cooking and cleaning can wait 'til tomorrow,
For babies grow up, we've learned to our sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep,
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep."

"My house may be a mess.....but my children are happy" -Monica from Homespun heart

MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!!!!

*Take some time this week and just "be" with your kids...just hang out, doing what THEY want to do...I promise, the laundry will still be there when you get through!! ;)

Of things hoped for....

A blog I try to read often because it is such an encouraging blog for mothers to read is this one. She has written a wonderful series on Biblical Motherhood and this post is just one in that series. I love the way she describes motherhood and leaving her legacy. I love the way she describes family, just as it should be, in my humble opinion. Have you ever considered just how you will treat your children's future spouses? Do you pray and prepare for them, even now?

She gave me some things to think about, that's for sure! Why don't you go on over and read for a bit? It will be time well spent. I promise!

what my children need from me....

pg. 33 "The Ministry of Motherhood" by Sally Clarkson

"What matters to them is my loving presence............ And that's what my children need from me. If I want them to be open to my messages, I need to be willing to serve them-to voluntarily give up my rights and my time to meet their felt needs-just as Jesus was willing to give for his disciples."

This gave me something to think about for awhile... actually, from now on, may I never forget these words. Something I really needed to hear today.

ugh! this is SERIOUSLY DISTURBING!

Click here and read Virtue Alert's post about the show that many teens watch, "Gossip Girl". This is disturbing and it really sickens me. I thought that 90210 was bad when I was a teen. This is SAD. What really is sad is that so many kids watch this show and look up to these characters. Please discuss with your children why these actions portrayed in their ads are so inappropriate and extremely dangerous.

*I don't mean to offend anyone but I have young nieces and nephews as well as my own children. I believe with everything within me that we MUST speak out about these kinds of things and talk to our youth about them. We must take action and not just talk. One of the reasons I blog. A lot of young kids that I know read this blog and listen to what I say. This is very important, trust me. Just something that I have been convicted about for many years. I truly feel that what we watch and read and associate with can taint our souls. And I don't want those kind of horrible consequences for any of the youth that I know and love. =)

What's Growing In Your Garden?

This is an excerpt from a book I have that is titled, "Moments Together For Couples" by Dennis & Barbara Rainey. An excellent book that has helped Charlie & I through many things in our 11 year marriage. Read along and really try to take in what they are saying in this devotional:

"Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, "The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in loving kindness and truth...yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations."

Dag Hammarskjold, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, once said, "You cannot play with the animal in you without becoming wholly animal; play with falsehood without forfeiting your right to truth; play with cruelty without losing your sensitivity of mind. He who wants to keep his garden tidy doesn't reserve a plot for weeds."

Did you know that what you grow and cultivate in your garden today could spread to your offspring? Did you know that a sin you now tolerate could still be tormenting your great-grandchildren in the year 2140? That's four generations from now!

Consider the warning of Scripture at the top of this page. What does it mean? Why would God set up a system that visits one generation's sins on three or four other generations? I have a hunch that God is trying to tell us that the way we live impacts others and is of supreme importance to Him. Possibly He's using a warning of future judgement on our descendants to keep us on the straight and narrow today.

Whether you like it or not, your children are becoming just like you. Their little eyes are watching to see how you relate to your mate, how you pray, how you walk with Christ on a daily basis. They hear your words and subconsciously mimic your attitudes , actions and even your mannerisms.

And as time goes by you'll find that they've inherited some of the same tendencies towards sin that you learned from your own parents. That's why so many children from broken homes, for example, grow up and fail in their own marriages.

Your kids will grow up to be like you. Is that a sobering thought, or an encouraging one?

*Well, I just felt like God was leading me to post this today. It helped me realize a lot of problems that I am dealing with right now are going to affect my children in the future. That is a very sobering thought, indeed. But, it is also encouraging to know and realize that hopefully because of my love for the Lord, that our children will grow up to love the Lord their God. Amazing, isn't it?

Hope this helps you & I will try to post the second part of this devotional tomorrow or Friday. God Bless.

Our Cousin got Published!!!!

Melissa Harcrow, Charlie's cousin and Erica Roath, a girl I(more correctly, my sister) went to school with, collaborated their talents and came up with this cute series. "Where's Your Manners, William?" is the first book with more to follow. If you wish to know more, go to this address and type in "Where's Your Manners, William?" in the search engine (click on the search tab and type the title).

I have read the book and it is adorable and I believe will become a favorite with our children!

Neither Melissa nor Erica has asked me to plug their book (they are too modest for that) but I am doing it anyway!!!! I am proud of them!!!! So, if you are looking for a cute fun book that will grab your child's attention and keep it all the way through, this is that book!!!

Have a wonderful day!
